All generic domain extensions and certain country-code ones support a security lock functionality whose function is to block unsolicited transfers of active domains. Many registry operators that manage ccTLDs that do not support this feature are in the process of adopting it for the sake of security and for the convenience of the domain name registrants. A domain name can be transferred only if it is unlocked and only an individual who has access to the account with the current domain registrar can accomplish that. New domain names are registered with the lock feature enabled on purpose, so as to impede any unsanctioned transfer attempts. The lock option is among the safety measures for controlling the transfer of active domains between domain name registrars that have been introduced over the years.

Registrar Lock in Cloud Hosting

Locking and unlocking a domain name registered through us is extremely easy. This can be accomplished through the Hepsia Control Panel, which is included with our cloud hosting, and will take literally two clicks of the mouse. All your domain names will be displayed in alphabetical order in the Registered Domains section of the Hepsia Control Panel and next to those whose extensions support the domain lock option, you’ll notice a padlock-like logo. Click on it once and you’ll see the current status of the domain name. Click once again and you’ll change its status. The update will propagate momentarily without the need for you or for us to do anything else for the status to be ‘refreshed’ on WHOIS lookup sites, so you can initiate the transfer right away.
