If a page on your site does not load, an error message shall be shown to the website visitor. Because there are different errors, there are different pages that will display, but what's typical for all of them is that they are generic and most likely will have nothing in common with the layout of your site, which could be aggravating for any site visitor. This is the main reason why hosting service providers have introduced a feature called Custom Error Pages. For a range of different errors, site visitors will see your custom content, which may be informative or funny, depending on your personal preference, and which shall match the design of your site, so the pages will not look like they are not part of your site at all. You could use this option for many errors - 400 (Bad request), 401 (Unauthorized), 403 (Forbidden) and 404 (File not Found).

In case you pick the 3rd option, you should just type the URL to the file that you've uploaded then save the change. Another way to set personalized error pages is to set up an .htaccess file in the domain or subdomain folder and to add several lines of code in it.
